Isn't professional copywriting just nice-to-have?
Actually no. The impact of good copy versus even average copy is the difference between making money and losing money. Good copywriting grabs and holds your reader's attention. It not only informs, it builds rapport and influences actions. Consider the amount of money you spend on printing a brochure, developing a website, printing and sending direct mail campaigns or even advertising in your local paper. If you're looking for a return on these marketing investments, good copywriting isn't a nice-to-have. It's a necessity.

I can write, why can't I write my own copy?
Even professional copywriters have difficulty writing about their own business. If you're writing about your business, chances are you have an emotional investment that can sometimes cloud your objectivity–especially in terms of promotions. You'll look at your promotions through your eyes, the eyes of a business owner or executive. To write great copy, you need to look with the eyes of a potential customer. A copywriter won't know my business as well as I do, so how can they write good copy?
You're right; a copywriter will never know your business as well as you do. Then again, neither do your customers–and they’re the ones you’re really interested in building a relationship with. So while a copywriter won’t know your business as well as you do, they will be able to ask the questions that potential customers will ask precisely because they don’t know your business. They’ll look at your products and services with new eyes. They will pick up on parts of your business that you don’t even consider unique.

We have deadlines to meet. How can we be sure you will meet them?
We take deadlines very seriously. When we discuss your project, we will ask what your deadline is. We will then assess the work that needs to be done and give you an honest appraisal of what needs to be done, by whom and by when, in order to meet that deadline. You or people within your organization may need to do some things too eg. supply us with information; review draft copy. As long as your organization gives us what we have asked for within the agreed timeframes, we guarantee to meet your deadline.

Can you work with our internal approvals process?
Yes. We understand that sometimes there are multiple layers within an organization. We aim to have one liaison person for each project. However, we can present to a group of people or discuss the project with other members of your team as required. We will consider the time required for your approvals process when agreeing the deadline date.

I've used a copywriter before and what they wrote didn't seem professional to me. How do I know that they're doing a good job?
Many of us were taught that good writing meant long sentences and big words. So if you're used to the bureaucratic tone of writing, you might consider simple English and short sentences unprofessional. They're not. In fact, customers like copy that 'talks' to them. A good copywriter will use words, phrases and concepts that appeal to your target market. How do you know if they've done a good job? Ask your customers what they think of your promotional material. Ask them why they decided to buy your products/services and if your promotional material influenced their decision.
